Press Time Out New York THE SHOW Tiny Ninja Theater presents Shakespeare's Sonnets brings to life several of the Bard's best-loved sonnets, including: Sonnet XXXIV Why didst thou promise such a beauteous day   And make me travel forth without my cloak,   To let base clouds o’ertake me in my way,   Hiding thy bravery in their rotten smoke?   ’Tis not enough that through the cloud thou break, To dry the rain on my storm-beaten face,   For no man well of such a salve can speak   That heals the wound and cures not the disgrace:   Nor can thy shame give physic to my grief;   Though thou repent, yet I have still the loss: The offender’s sorrow lends but weak relief   To him that bears the strong offence’s cross.     Ah! but those tears are pearl which thy love sheds,     And they are rich and ransom all ill deeds. Sonnet CXXX My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun   Coral is far more red than her lips’ red:   If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;   If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.   I have seen roses damask’d, red and white, But no such roses see I in her cheeks;   And in some perfumes is there more delight   Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.   I love to hear her speak, yet well I know   That music hath a far more pleasing sound: I grant I never saw a goddess go,—   My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground:     And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare     As any she belied with false compare.
